Synopsis:
Padma Nadir Majhe is a National Award Winning Movie, directed by Gautam Ghosh, starring Utpal Dutta. Based on Manik Banerji's novel by the same name, Padma Nadir Majhe is a story set in 1947 India when partition was yet to happan. Kuber is a poor Hindu fisherman who has a family of four his crippled wife, his daughter and his newly born boy child. Hossain Miyan is a big businessman of the village and intends to make a little utopia on an island Moynadeep in the Padma Delta. Hossain Miyan however needs fisherman to visit his island so that he can expand his business. He somehow manages to convince Kuber to do the job. On his any visits to the island, Kuber realises that Moynadep will be a good place to reside in. Opportunity presents itself when partition happens and Kuber on lookout for a place to go. But two of his Moynadeep returned friends Rasu (Suni Mukherjee) and Aminuddin (Rabi Ghosh) have horror stories to share from the island. A few days later a storm hits the village ransacking it. As an immediate outcome, his daughter's marriage alliance with a local boy gets called off. Rasu offers to marry her but Kuber declines as there is a huge age gap between the two. Rasu gets furious and pledges to destroy Kuber. Well...he succeeds. Kuber is arrested by the Police on account of theft. He goes to Hossain miyan for support who agrees to help but with a condition.
