Ankush (1986)

About:
Writer, Editor, Director and co-producer N.Chandra earned both popular as also critical acclaim for this film. He had earlier worked under Gulzar as an editor. Chandrashekhar Narvekar alias N Chandra scored a hat-trick at the box office with his first three films, Ankush (1986), Pratighaat (1987) and Tezaab (1988), which is what is called his ‘system’ trilogy because the theme of individual against the system runs through all the three films.

Synopsis:
This is an off-beat story by Indian film standards of a group of young men, who live in the same neighbourhood, and hang around the streets, killing time and fighting rival street gangs. In their pointless lives come 2 women: a old lady and her young daughter (a teacher). The daughter is initially annoyed by the rude behaviour of the young loafers, but soon sees though their tough demeanour. What she discovers is well-intentioned youth, led astray by an apathetic and corrupt society.
