The movie is about a Hindu priest Pandit Chaturvedi (Pankaj Kapur) who is one of the most highly respected priests in the entire city of Varanasi. A man who lives for his religion, soaked in years of ancient traditions, values and morals. He is a strict, yet lovable man. One day his daughter brings home an infant (Krish Parekh) and the mother of the infant has disappeared and cannot be found nowhere. Pandit Chaturvedi is hesitant to have the child around the house at first, and when it's confirmed that the child has been abandoned, he then makes the decision that the child will be raised in the local orphanage. However the Pandit's wife Parvati (Supriya Pathak Kapur) has by now developed a soft spot for the young child and requests her husband if they can keep and raise the child if as their own. Hesitant at first, the priest reluctantly agrees as his wife lies to him that the baby is the son of a Brahmin. Slowly, the child wins over everyone hearts in the house including Pandit Chaturvedi who finds a son, a disciple and a best friend in the child. The story takes a turn when the baby's mother returns to claim him back, and much to the shock of Pandit Chaturvedi, the lady is a Muslim. The child who they'd fondly named Karthik is in fact Mustafa. Pandit Chaturvedi is in a state of shock and utter despair as he feels he has done the biggest sin of his life and feel as if he has betrayed his religion and more-so God. In a state of recluse and regret, Pandit Chaturvedi decides to take a series of different vows and "vraths" to clear his conscience. However whilst his mind is telling him he has done a grave sin, his heart sorely misses his little son, and the words "babuji" echo in every corridor of the house. In a series of events, riots break out in the city of Varanasi, Mustafa's mum begs and pleads the Pandit and his family to take back the little boy as he is much safer with them. However the doors of the house are closed for the little boy. The Codebreaker Who Hacked Hitler ()

Breaking the Code: Biography of Alan Turing (1996)

Synopsis:
A biography of the English mathematician Alan Turing, who was one of the inventors of the digital computer and one of the key figures in the breaking of the Enigma code, used by the Germans to send secret orders to their U-boats in World War II. Turing was also a homosexual in Britain at a time when this was illegal, besides being a security risk.
Adapted for Television
Hugh Whitemore wrote a shortened version of the play for television. This was filmed in late 1995, as a production of THE DRAMA HOUSE and WGBH BOSTON for BBC NORTH.The first transmission, to my knowledge, was on 17 September 1996 in Canada, by Showcase Television. It was shown in the United States as a Masterpiece Theater production on 2 February 1997. The first British transmission was on BBC1, 5 February 1997.
Filmed for television in a naturalistic suburban setting, rather than on a timeless, expressionist stage set, Breaking the Code inevitably sacrificed many of the elements that made it grip theatre audiences. No stagecraft magic of Derek Jacobi's real-time changes of age: instead the teenage Turing was played by a young actor.
The adapted script also lost some of the more special moments of the play. For instance, on the stage, Turing reveals the logical secret of the Bombe on his last holiday on Corfu, but with the irony that it is revealed to someone who does not understand a word. On the television screen, his explanation is given to an Intelligence officer 'John Smith', all irony lost.
Hugh Whitemore also dropped the words at the death scene, and supplied an anticlimactic ending, a voiceover explaining the dubious honour done to Alan Turing by having part of the Manchester Ring Road being named after him. But this sudden shift into 1990s documentary mode holds the danger of dating very rapidly, and also prompts the awkward question of what Alan Turing is supposed 'really' to have done, which is even less clear in the television film than it was on the stage.
But the television version gained in ways I could not have foreseen. The direction made it less of a one-man show, and the supporting cast was very strong. The sheer bodily closeness, under the unflinching gaze of the camera, presented a wonderful image of 'the logical' confronting head-on 'the physical,' something I had wrestled with in my own writing.

Pakistan And India Partition 1947 ()

Synopsis:
The partition of India تقسیم ہند was the partition of British India on the basis of religious demographics. This led to the creation of the sovereign states of the Dominion of Pakistan (that later split into the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the People's Republic of Bangladesh) and the Union of India (later Republic of India). The Indian Independence Act 1947 had decided 15 August 1947 as the appointed date for the partition. However, Pakistan came into existence a day earlier, on 14 August.
The partition of India was set forth in the Indian Independence Act 1947 and resulted in the dissolution of the British Indian Empire and the end of the British Raj. It resulted in a struggle between the newly constituted states of India and Pakistan and displaced up to 12.5 million people with estimates of loss of life varying from several hundred thousand to a million (most estimates of the numbers of people who crossed the boundaries between India and Pakistan in 1947 range between 10 and 12 million). The violent nature of the partition created an atmosphere of mutual hostility and suspicion between India and Pakistan that plagues their relationship to this day.
The partition included the geographical division of the Bengal province into East Bengal, which became part of the Dominion of Pakistan (from 1956, East Pakistan). West Bengal became part of India, and a similar partition of the Punjab province became West Punjab (later the Pakistani Punjab and Islamabad Capital Territory) and East Punjab (later the Indian Punjab, as well as Haryana and Himachal Pradesh). The partition agreement also included the division of Indian government assets, including the Indian Civil Service, the Indian Army, the Royal Indian Navy, the Indian railways and the central treasury, and other administrative services.
The two self-governing countries of India and Pakistan legally came into existence at the stroke of midnight on 14--15 August 1947. The ceremonies for the transfer of power were held a day earlier in Karachi, at the time the capital of the new state of Pakistan, so that the last British Viceroy, Lord Mountbatten of Burma, could attend both the ceremony in Karachi and the ceremony in Delhi. Thus, Pakistan's Independence Day is celebrated on 14 August and India's on 15 August.

Badlapur Boys (2014)

Synopsis:
Synopsis:
Director Mr. Shailesh Verma fails to return the lost glory of this game. He is so desperate to make this film extraordinary that he has stuffed it with unnecessary shots, jerky expressions and unwanted sub plots. He has written the film too, so he has to be blamed. Major drawback of this film is that you didn't get any excitement while watching the game on screen. This is mainly due to bad camera angles and wrong and repetitive taking. Points are being increased in game but you won't be able to get why? Film based on sports need special shot division to make the soul alive but here makers thought that only keeping the game in script will make it interesting. Even, writing wise you feel that Kabaddi is forcefully incorporated. They don't have to explore or justify this game much so they kept a love angle which becomes triangle at a point. Complete film is in bits and pieces. Make up is also bad. They think that ageing only makes hair grey but skin texture remains same. Clothes do not go well with the characters economical status. Most of the time they look very fresh as if they are being used first time. Production value is very low. They had budget to create a Mela but required gathering was missing. You can feel the scarcity of crowd even in stadium scenes. Climax is good but again it losses it charm due to length. I am giving one more point only due to climax. Scenes are sometimes undercooked sometime overcooked. Performance wise, Annu Kapoor is a fine actor and he did impressive work in his limited scope. Main lead Nishan as Vijay look endearing and never goes overboard. Surprisingly #NitinJadhav as Khaleefa, the short guy in team is very good. He did well in comedy scenes as well in emotional one. Rest cast are just OK. Music is OK. Title track is good and supports the film well by pacing it up.

Freaky Chakra (2003)

Summery:
There has been an increase in movies falling in the genre of Indian-hinglish movies that are being made by young Indian directors who want to express their creativity through the medium of films. The making of such films bring a freshness to the Indian movie scene. That said, some of them lack a strong storyline and this happens to be failing of this "Freaky Chakra" too. "Freaky Chakra" is the story of a lady and the vicious circle of life that she leads. The story has a novel presentation style done by Ranvir Shorie where he introduces the characters one after another and talks to the audience from time to time. It is funny at times like where we see a character about to swallow bills and Ranvir butts in with " oops Typo :Pills, pills ... not bills"!

Deepti Naval
Ranvir Shorey
Sachin Khedekar

Directors: V.K. Prakash, Ziba Bhagwagar
