Hero (1983)

Synopsis:
It was a challenge to cast a non-actor in the title role. But Subhash Ghai, with a keen eye for talent, created history at the box office with this unique love story. Jackie (Jackie Shroff), a Bombay hitman, kidnaps the daughter of the police commissioner (Meenakshi Sheshadri) to negotiate the release of his boss (a don) from jail, only to fall in love with the beautiful damsel. The love story between the criminal and the hostage charms audiences even today when the soulful flute triumphs over gunshots.
