Lion of the Desert (1981)

Synopsis:
Libyan leader Moummar Quaddafi financed this incredible desert epic about a Libyan school teacher who became a hero, defending his Bedouin people against the Italian invasion of 1929. Anthony Quinn stars as Omar Mukhtar, a legend of the Arab world who fought against the cruelty and fascism of Mussolini's invading forces. Under General Rodolfo Graziana (Oliver Reed), the Italian army sought to gain a foothold on Libyan soil in an effort to build an empire in the Middle East. With the persistence and leadership of Mukhtar, his loyal followers battled the tanks and guns of the Italian army with their Bedouin troops on horseback - managing to hold off the Italians for almost twenty years.
