The Cu Chi Tunnels ()
Synopsis:
During the war in Vietnam, thousands of people in the Vietnamese province of Cu Chi lived in an elaborate system of underground tunnels. Originally built in the time of the French, the tunnels were enlarged during the American presence. When the Americans began bombing the villages of Cu Chi, the survivors went underground where they remained for the duration of the war.
The
secret tunnels, which joined village to village and often passes
beneath American bases, were not only fortifications for Viet Cong
guerillas, but were also the center of community life. Hidden beneath
the destroyed villages were schools and public spaces were hospitals
where children were born and surgery was performed on casualties of war:
underground were schools and public spaces where couples were married
and private places where lovers met. There were even theaters where
performers entertained with song and dance and traditional stories.
The Cu Chi Tunnels,
a Mickey Grant film, is the story of life underground told by the
people who lived the experience. It is a story told by a surgeon, an
artist, and actress, an engineer, and the few survivors of the guerilla
band who left the tunnels each night to fight against an enemy of vastly
superior strength.
Attached to the guerilla bands
were Viet Cong documentary cameramen and camerawomen whose footage of
the war from the Vietnamese point of view and of love, life and death in
the tunnels has survived and is used in the film. This extremely rare
footage povides a fascinating kind of echo; we see and hear an actress
perform in the wartime tunnels and then hear her describe the experience
nearly thirty years later.

Synopsis:
La Linea ("The Line") is an Italian animated series created by the Italian cartoonist Osvaldo Cavandoli. Over the years the series aired in more than 40 countries around the world. All episodes of the series are available today on DVD version.
Due to its short duration (usually 2 minutes 30 seconds), it has often been used in many networks as an interstitial program.
The tune played in the background of the series was created by Franco Godi.
Even though the episodes are numbered up to 225, there are, in fact, only 90 La Linea episodes. The Lagostina series had 8 (5 min) episodes, the 100 series had 56 (101-156), and the 200 series had 26 (200-225).

Le souffle au coeur (1971)
AKA:
Murmur of the Heart >> English
Synopsis:
Louis Malle's critically acclaimed Murmur of the Heart (Le souffle au coeur) gracefully combines elements of comedy, drama, and autobiography in a candid portrait of a precocious adolescent boy's sexual maturation. Both shocking and deeply poignant, this is one of the finest coming of age films ever made.
This is a jolly coming-of-age story about a 15-year-old boy named Laurent Chevalier who is growing up in bourgeois surroundings in Dijon, France. This is France in the mid-1950s rather than America in the 1990s. Thus, Laurent is unharmed by events which would irreparably shatter the self-esteem of a modern American adolescent: he gets drunk, he smokes, he has sex, he is smothered by his mother, he is ignored by his father, a priest makes a pass at him, he gets rheumatoid fever, etc. There's enough scandalous behavior in this film to make 100 made-for-TV movies, and yet this is a very happy and oddly innocent tale.

Lea Massari

Rohtenburg (2006)
Synopsis:
In Germany, as graduate student Katie Armstrong researches cannibal killer Oliver Hagen for her thesis, she becomes obsessed with her subject and ultimately plunges into a lifestyle similar to Hagen's and the thousands of people like him. Starring Keri Russell. Rated R for strong aberrant violent/sexual content and disturbing images.
This is inspired by the True Crime case of German cannibal Armin Meiwes, who butchered and cannibalized computer programmer Bernd-Jurgen Brandes after putting on necrobabes.com an advertisement "I'm looking for a normally built young man between 18 and 25 years for a real slaughter and consumption". Brandes was willing to be eaten, wanted his penis to be cut off and eaten. Meiwes did exactly what he wanted and they both eaten it. Then Meiwes stabbed Brandes in the neck and kept his body to be cooked and eaten pieces by pieces for the weeks to come. By the time the cops catched up to Meiwes, he had eaten most of Brandes. The website in which Meiwes first met Brandes was ultimately banned in Germany due to a lawsuit in which Meiwes successfully argued that the film slandered his deeds and made him look bad.

Chinese Torture Chamber Story (1995)
Synopsis:
A Chinese TORTURE CHAMBER STORY isn't a great film by any stretch, but it sure has some fun stuff going on... Long and short: a woman goes to work for a rich guy, the rich guy's wife gets jealous that her man is constantly eye-ballin' the hired help, and the wife decides to murder the servants husband and pin it on her husband and the servant-girl. The servant-girl's husband is known around town for having a big donkey-cock, and decides to slip an aphrodesiac in this poor cats medicine, causing his penis to explode (believe me, I couldn't make this sh!!t up if I tried...). Anyway, all goes according to plan until some of the other hired help rat the rich-guy's wife and her lover out.
The torture scenes are relatively tame if your used to this sort of thing, and the sex scenes aren't explicit compared to porn - but there are some truly funny and original things going on in A Chinese TORTURE CHAMBER STORY. The aerial-acrobatic-kung-fu-sex-submission and the invisible-stalker-man-in-the-middle-blow-job scenes were worth the price of admission on this one (not to mention the exploding-penis-hand-job...). The whole film is handled pretty tongue-in-cheek, so the f'ed up subject matter is a little easier to "swallow"...Definitely worth a look.

Greek Street (1930)
Starring:
"Greek Street" was directed by Sinclair Hill in 1930 and was a very early British talkie. IMDB quotes a running time of 85 minutes, but this version runs for just 52 minutes. Despite this, the narrative still makes good sense (possibly some musical numbers have been cut) with a story concerning a young couple, (William Freshman and Sari Maritza), whose relationship becomes very strained when the girl embarks on a show business career. Technically the film is typical of its period and it is not surprising that it has sunk without trace, needless to say the film has never been shown on UK tv.

Albert Einstein – Biography ()
About:
A biographical Documentary on Albert Einstein by History Channel.
Synopsis:
Albert Einstein was born at Ulm, in Württemberg, Germany, on March 14, 1879. Six weeks later the family moved to Munich, where he later on began his schooling at the Luitpold Gymnasium. Later, they moved to Italy and Albert continued his education at Aarau, Switzerland and in 1896 he entered the Swiss Federal Polytechnic School in Zurich to be trained as a teacher in physics and mathematics. In 1901, the year he gained his diploma, he acquired Swiss citizenship and, as he was unable to find a teaching post, he accepted a position as technical assistant in the Swiss Patent Office. In 1905 he obtained his doctor's degree.
During his stay at the Patent Office, and in his spare time, he produced much of his remarkable work and in 1908 he was appointed Privatdozent in Berne. In 1909 he became Professor Extraordinary at Zurich, in 1911 Professor of Theoretical Physics at Prague, returning to Zurich in the following year to fill a similar post. In 1914 he was appointed Director of the Kaiser Wilhelm Physical Institute and Professor in the University of Berlin. He became a German citizen in 1914 and remained in Berlin until 1933 when he renounced his citizenship for political reasons and emigrated to America to take the position of Professor of Theoretical Physics at Princeton*. He became a United States citizen in 1940 and retired from his post in 1945.
After World War II, Einstein was a leading figure in the World Government Movement, he was offered the Presidency of the State of Israel, which he declined, and he collaborated with Dr. Chaim Weizmann in establishing the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Einstein always appeared to have a clear view of the problems of physics and the determination to solve them. He had a strategy of his own and was able to visualize the main stages on the way to his goal. He regarded his major achievements as mere stepping-stones for the next advance.
At the start of his scientific work, Einstein realized the inadequacies of Newtonian mechanics and his special theory of relativity stemmed from an attempt to reconcile the laws of mechanics with the laws of the electromagnetic field. He dealt with classical problems of statistical mechanics and problems in which they were merged with quantum theory: this led to an explanation of the Brownian movement of molecules. He investigated the thermal properties of light with a low radiation density and his observations laid the foundation of the photon theory of light.
In his early days in Berlin, Einstein postulated that the correct interpretation of the special theory of relativity must also furnish a theory of gravitation and in 1916 he published his paper on the general theory of relativity. During this time he also contributed to the problems of the theory of radiation and statistical mechanics.
In the 1920's, Einstein embarked on the construction of unified field theories, although he continued to work on the probabilistic interpretation of quantum theory, and he persevered with this work in America. He contributed to statistical mechanics by his development of the quantum theory of a monatomic gas and he has also accomplished valuable work in connection with atomic transition probabilities and relativistic cosmology.
After his retirement he continued to work towards the unification of the basic concepts of physics, taking the opposite approach, geometrisation, to the majority of physicists.
Einstein's researches are, of course, well chronicled and his more important works include Special Theory of Relativity (1905), Relativity (English translations, 1920 and 1950), General Theory of Relativity (1916), Investigations on Theory of Brownian Movement (1926), and The Evolution of Physics (1938). Among his non-scientific works, About Zionism (1930), Why War? (1933), My Philosophy (1934), and Out of My Later Years (1950) are perhaps the most important.
Albert Einstein received honorary doctorate degrees in science, medicine and philosophy from many European and American universities. During the 1920's he lectured in Europe, America and the Far East and he was awarded Fellowships or Memberships of all the leading scientific academies throughout the world. He gained numerous awards in recognition of his work, including the Copley Medal of the Royal Society of London in 1925, and the Franklin Medal of the Franklin Institute in 1935.
Einstein's gifts inevitably resulted in his dwelling much in intellectual solitude and, for relaxation, music played an important part in his life. He married Mileva Maric in 1903 and they had a daughter and two sons; their marriage was dissolved in 1919 and in the same year he married his cousin, Elsa Löwenthal, who died in 1936. He died on April 18, 1955 at Princeton, New Jersey.

R D Burman is undoubtedly the undisputed king of Indian rock and roll. This movie Pancham Unmixed traces the growth of the humble and nervous Pancham into the maverick music director that he was. Synopsis:
Soundtrack the film is based a true story. A man who stops hearing the world outside to finally start hearing his own inner voice. Soundtrack is an edgy, modern day portrayal of India's most prolific musician and DJ. It traces his alcohol, drug and sex fuelled meteoric rise, as he battles his internal demons and a damaging handicap. Arriving in Mumbai with just a backpack and a guitar, Raunaq Kaul hooks up with Surinder Bhan, who introduces him to Charlie, the owner of 'Charlie Tango' nightclub. This is where Raunaq makes his start and achieves phenomenal success as a composer virtually overnight. He quickly regresses to a life of illicit drugs, including Charas, Cocaine, Ganja, smoking, and alcohol. Unable to perform, he goes for a medical check-up with Dr. Manu Rishi Kaul, and is told that he has lost his hearing in the right ear, while the left one is only partly functional. In order to avoid deafness, he must avoid loud music as well as try and keep off drugs, alcohol and smoking, and wear a hearing-aid. Unable to focus on his work, he alienates himself, gets into an argument, which results in an accident - taking away his hearing altogether. Depressed, refusing to communicate with anyone, he prepares a padded sound-proof room with hopes of recovering his hearing.
